ISLAND OF PRVIC

Prvic is only about a half mile far from the mainland to the cost. That's why it makes the island the closest of all the islands in Sibenik archipelago. The island has a natural extension of the island Zlarin. The island covers total of 2.37km2.

The name of that island probably comes from the ancient god of spring. Prvic Island became famous during the Turks invasion when croatian inhabitants found there safety.

First inhabitants of that island were farmers. Today most of them are employed in industry in such region as Sibenik is. Some of them still cultivate the traditional plants like figs, olives and wine grapes. Their main occupation is also fishing. Because of sunny beaches, shady Mediterranean pine forrests the island became famous tourist destianation.
